We all get ill for a variety of reasons. Maybe your stressful work schedule is getting on top of you, or you aren’t following a particularly healthy lifestyle. And health is so so important!Everyday life can often get you down. Sometimes, you may feel like your immune system needs a little pick-me-up. But there’s no need to reach for the medicine cabinet. There are many alternative ways to keep your health in good shape. Here are five of my favourite, you can all practice them while traveling and they’re definitely doable with a busy schedule. If you try a couple of them out, you may find you can stave off illness for a good while!
An ancient exercise, yoga is used by many to keep supple and strong. It can also help you clear your mind, as many meditation methods are used. It is a very safe way to improve your balance and flexibility, so many people use it to help them after they have had an accident. Or, if they have spent a considerable length of time in bed due to illness. Some studies show that it is great for lowering blood pressure and stress. There are a few different types of yoga you can do. See which classes are on offer close to you and speak to the instructor about the type of yoga they teach. I wrote a lot of articles about yoga for clients or previous blogs of mine, I’ll bundle those soon so you can read and learn all about it!
The Paleo Diet’s philosophy is simple: if a caveman didn’t eat it, neither can you. So you can eat plenty of meat, nuts, eggs, and fresh fruit and vegetables. But stay away from grains, sugars, legumes, potatoes, and processed foods. The Paleo Diet is said to be great for weight loss, but it also has many other health benefits. Sugary and processed foods cause your gut to inflame. Cutting them out of your diet will be advantageous to your gut’s health. Not only that, but it also improves your body’s digestion and absorption of healthy nutrients. Because of my allergies, my diet is very similar to the Paleo diet, so feel free to tweet / Snapchat me with your questions! (@nnonimay)
You can buy many reasonably priced herbal teas in most supermarkets. The different flavoured teas each have different benefits. For example, green tea (my favorite! Especially green tea with cranberries!) boosts the metabolism and chamomile tea promotes a good night’s sleep. There are also many herbal remedies that can soothe sore throats and coughs. There is a lot of information online, but to learn more in depth sign up for Chinese Medicine Courses.
To really take some time away from it all and to clear your head of stress, try meditating. Mindfulness is a popular form of meditating in which you just need to close your eyes and be aware of the present moment. Not only does mindfulness involve you meditating each day, but over time, you will find it helps you in your everyday tasks and activities. It will also help you lead a stress-free life. A life in which you are more in control of your emotions. And recently I’m really in to the law of attraction.. because it really works for me!! So I try to do a ten minute daily meditation every morning, but it also works when I’m running or in public transportation. I’ll probably write a full post about this any time soon!
There are many ways of staying healthy without using pills and medication. Hopefully, this post has given you an overview of some of the most common alternative ways! Most of them involve natural remedies and treatments. Much better than dangerous drugs and pills!
