You probably already know that advertising is a great way to monetize your blog. However, what you may not be aware of is that there are many different forms of advertising. Many of which you can take part in simultaneously that can be profitable for your blog. 

Of course, the first is to sell visual space in your blog for adverts, something that you can relatively easily online. Secondly, don’t forget that you can also host sponsored content that contains keyword links used for off-page SEO. Something that means it helps other businesses improve their marketing as they will appear further up in the natural SEO searches. 

However, that is not the only form of advertising to consider either, as there are affiliate marketing as well. This being a tactic where you link directly to the sales pages of a particular product and receive a cut of the profits when someone makes a purchase. In fact, many people create blogs that are designed to review items, with the sole purpose of being able to do this. Something that makes these direct links look a lot more natural and less forced. It is also common practice to declare that you are an affiliate on your blog as well. The reason being that this can help customers to make their buying choices better when using the information you provide.

Finally, there is promotional and PR work. This is where you use and review products from another business, to get their brand name out there and maximize positive exposure that their products receive. 

Consultancy work 

Consultancy work in another possible revenue stream for any blogger looking to diversify. The idea is that they offer advice and coaching to others in an area in which they have expertise. 

For example, those blogging about business may offer business support, while those that write primarily about fitness may do personal training and coaching. 

Some even choose to focus on particular niches such as women in business, or life coaching for a specific group of people. This being something that can actually work in their favor. The reason being that it’s easier to build up a specialist and profitable practice, and become well known for support in this area. 

Merch 

An ingenious way of adding another revenue stream to your blog is to offer branded merch for sale. In fact, such things can be very popular as a symbol of support for the blogger. Such items can also be something that represents the customer’s identity within such a community as well. 

Of course, to be able to do this effectively, you will need first to find a wholesaler that offers branded merchandise. Then you can buy in bulk to keep the unit cost low and maximize profit as you sell them onto your customer. 

Sell your own products

This option is different from merch because it less about branded items and more about things that you have created yourself. In fact, in many ways blogging and being creative can work in a sort of symbiosis where you use the blog to promote work that you are doing to sell elsewhere. Something that you can do via updates, how-to posts and tutorials, and the like. Then once visitors can see that you know what you are on about they are much more likely to invest in the products you have on offer. 

Of course, you must choose the right type of product to sell. For some, these will be passive income items such as books and guides. The idea being that you sell the same thing over and over again, which means you can generate an income from the same item repeatedly. 

However, at the other end of the spectrum are those bloggers that use their sites to promote OOAK art pieces. A product that tends to appeal to a more niche market and can be supported via blogging. The reason being that it can help customers be more emotionally invested in the piece and will, therefore, more likely to buy it. Something that can help you to create another viable income stream from your blog.
