The key to having a productive day actually starts with having a consistent morning routine. You need to break down every task into very small steps, and you also need to try and plan out everything you need to do, the day before. As mentioned above, it’s super important that you have a consistent routine in the morning, but it’s also important that you have a routine at night as well. For example, you might have a shower in the evening, climb into bed, read a book and then scroll through social media. It doesn’t always need to be a big routine either because it’s often the little things that make the biggest difference. If you have trouble sleeping at night then this can really help you to get into the right routine and it can also encourage you to sleep more soundly. If you can prepare your meals in advance then you certainly should. The main reason for this is because if you don’t then you may end up eating rubbish throughout the day just to fuel your energy levels and this is the last thing that you need. If you are able to do this then you can prepare certain aspects of them, saving yourself time and stress in the future. Make-ahead recipes are always good if you work long hours, so consider investing in a slow-cooker as this will help you to have a hot meal whenever you walk in through the door.
If you are flooded with work, then you will know how difficult it can be to find the time to get away from your desk. This is understandable, but if you always eat at your desk then you might not be able to give yourself a break. Force yourself away from work from time to time. When you do, you’ll feel way better about yourself.
Podcasts are great for you to get news on the go. Most of the time, they are just what you need to unwind and truly relax. If you feel as though you just don’t have time to listen to a podcast then this is understandable, so listen to it on your way to work instead, or even when you are waiting for a taxi. By breaking up your day like this, you can then be sure to reap the benefits.
If you can, set aside 30 minutes in your day to get all of the nitty-gritty tasks done. This will stop you from having to multitask later when you have so much to do and it will also force you to stop procrastinating as well. Little tasks could include prepping tea, vacuuming up or even planning out the meals you are going to have later on in the week. When you do, you will soon find that you are able to have a much better week and that you also stop yourself from being overwhelmed by everything so do keep this in mind.
