Running a business is ideal if you have an entrepreneurial spirit and a lot of energy. There are so many things you can do when you have self-motivation and if you understand what it takes to keep your finances afloat.
But when you are moving from job to job and always on the go, how can you continue to run your business?
If it takes strength of character to set up a business, it takes serious organizational skills to run it on the go! You need to make sure that you have the right equipment to do your job well and a few simple techniques will certainly help you manage your time.
Working well as a sole trader means that you have to be able to manage your entire business yourself. This is where your phone really comes in handy. Your clients should be able to contact you easily and be able to send you all the relevant documents and you need to be able to respond.
Having a dedicated work phone is a good way to separate out your work life and home life. You should also think about protecting your phone, not just with insurance but with a mobile firewall as well. This will protect your phone from mobile malware which is steadily increasing.
When you’ve got a lot to get through in a day, it’s easy to put your paperwork to one side and forget all about it. This is how receipts are forgotten, invoices mount up and your organization quickly falls apart! Time management is an essential part of running any business. By dedicating just 30 minutes at the end of the day to dealing with paperwork, getting back to clients and all the other stuff that goes with a business, you can make a big difference.
You should also make the most of apps that help you track expenses and invoices. This should help to reduce the amount of paperwork you have to get through and, hopefully, fewer expenses will slip through the cracks.
When you are constantly on the move, it helps if you have a streamlined process to ensure you have everything you need. For example, if you need your customers to give you certain information before you can send them a quote, you might consider setting up a form for them to fill out. Similarly, you might choose to set up an automated bot to answer common questions through your website.
The more you can do to prepare your customers before they contact you directly, the easier it will be to filter serious requests. This will save you time while also giving customers more reasons to contact you in the first place.
Running a business on the go is a challenge but it is definitely worth trying at some point. Having the freedom to move around will increase your business opportunities and give you the independence you crave.
