Doing something healthy once in a while just isn’t going to be enough if you want to make your life an easier one. The healthier we are, the more comfortable life is because we have fewer health concerns, our mental health is less affected, we are more mobile, and we can enjoy everyday activities (and more unusual ones) much more. This is exactly why a quick run around the block once a month or eating vegetables when we finally remember to buy them is not going to help in the least.
To truly be healthy, we need to be healthy every day. Here are some ways to ensure that happens.
Daily exercise is crucial in the fight to be healthy. This can be hard to do because of busy schedules or because you just don’t enjoy exercising, but that doesn’t matter; it still has to be done. The key to ensuring you exercise every day is to find something that works for you and that you enjoy. If you like running, try running to work instead of driving, or going for a run after you’ve eaten dinner in the evening instead of watching TV for half an hour. If you want to have a more structured routine, joining a gym is a great idea. Find one like Fitness 19 near your place of work, and you can do a workout before you start your day, at lunchtime, or just before you go home again.
There is sure to be something out there that you like and that you can fit into your schedule, so spend some time discovering what it is and your body (and mind) will thank you for it.
Snacks are a standard part of anyone’s day. Many nutritionists suggest that instead of eating three larger meals, we should try to eat six smaller ones, with three of those ‘meals’ being snacks (between breakfast and lunch, between lunch and dinner, and after dinner before bed).
When you think of snacks, you might automatically think of chips or chocolate, cookies or candies. These are things that should only ever be eaten in moderation, not every day. So what’s left? Fruit is what’s left. Having a fruit snack (either a whole piece of fruit, a smoothie, or a fruit energy bar, for example) will increase your energy and help you to stay healthy too.
This idea might sound strange considering the other options on this list, but it’s true; having a positive attitude really can help us to be healthier every day. If you can find one thing each day (and more than one thing if you can) that makes you smile, you’ll be helping to keep yourself healthy.
Odd as this seems, when you are in a positive frame of mind, you can be more open to the good things you need to do to keep yourself healthy. Imagine having a bad day and not seeking out anything positive; would you really want to eat fruit and healthy meals, or would you rather have cake and takeout? Would you really want to head to the gym, or would you rather lie on the couch under a blanket?
Feeling positive can change everything, including how healthy you can be every single day.
