Each year, when the sun is out, it’s not offically summer for me until I pick my favorite summer drink. Last year it were a lot of G&T’s. This summer, I think it’s Hugo. Hugo is the Italian summercocktail from Scavi & Ray and is a blend of prosecco, lime, mint and elderflower. And the best part? This drink is very reasonable priced and goes hand in hand with something sweet. Hhmm!
I tried a few different ways to serve this drink, and my favorite was the one with the flowered ice cubes, mixed with fruity ones. (Oh, and don’t forget to make sure it’s an edible flower if you still wanna have fun after you take a sip!)
The drink is perfect for a summer evening at the beach, in the park or, like me – on your balcony after a busy day at work.
The drink is already fruity from itself, thanks to the elderflower, but mixed with fresh fruit, it makes the perfect summer drink. I added some raspberry and blueberries to my ice cubes (heart shapes for life!). This way my drink got chilled and I got my portion of daily fruit intake 😉
I never heard of the brand Scavi & Ray before – until I found Hugo – so I dug a little bit in the history. Joe Scavi and Carluccio Ray both live in New York as immigrants but their dream was to go back to their Italian roots in Italy. They visited Veneto and decided to stay there and create their own prosecco. It resulted in a successful prosecco brand and the rest is history. How cool! I wish I could create my own prosecco 😉
These days Scavi & Ray have a couple of prosecco’s, of course Scavi & Ray Hugo but also Scavi & Ray Spumante and Scavi & Ray Rosato. But the green bottle is my current favorite and matches perfectly with all my colorful summer stuff. Happy summer!
