Self-employment is on the rise as more people realize they want to work for themselves. Sure, there are some benefits of being an employee, but most of the time you spend your days doing work for someone else. There’s always someone above you to boss you around, and your schedule is designed around other people. When you’re self-employed, you’re in control of your career. You dictate when you work, and you can almost decide how much you want to earn based on how much effort you want to put in.

With that in mind, there are tonnes of great self-employed careers out there for you to consider. So, here are some of the ones that can potentially reel in a lot of cash:

Personal Trainer

The fitness industry is booming. Personal trainers are popping up in every gym, and there’s a massive demand for their services. There will be no shortage of clients, and you can diversify your revenue by training people in-person and offering online programs for people to download! It has a high earning potential because you can charge a lot for an hour’s worth of work – when you gain enough experience. Plus, it’s known as one of the least stressful jobs out there. This is because most of your days are spent being active, and you can de-stress by working out and enjoying banter with your clients. Female personal trainers have even more potential to earn big bucks because there aren’t many around!

DJ

DJ’s can earn some serious cash. There are loads of different job opportunities as a DJ can be used in so many different situations. Got a wedding coming up? You need a DJ. Got a party to put on? You need a DJ. The potential to earn money is definitely there if you secure lots of different bookings. Plus, you can make your own music and sell it online or earn money from streaming platforms. The only downside of this career is that there’s a lot of traveling and you do put your health at risk. Primarily, you’re risking your hearing health. So, you’ll need a good set of musician hearing protection devices to ensure you don’t go deaf or suffer from chronic tinnitus. Other than that, it’s a fun career that can take you to loads of new places and open up so many unique opportunities.

Financial Advisor

People and businesses will pay big money to get financial advice. Whether it’s advice on what to invest in or advice on how to save money on taxes – people are willing to pay a lot for the right guidance! As a result, a financial advisor can take home a lot of money. It’s one of the cheapest self-employed careers as well. Why? Because you have hardly any overhead costs. All you need is some accounting or bookkeeping software, and that’s it. Your service is knowledge-based, so you don’t have to go out and buy loads of equipment or tools!

Being self-employed means that the world is your oyster. There’s no guarantee that you’ll earn lots of money in any of these jobs. However, when you’re in control, then you have more of a say in how much you earn. If you knuckle down and put your mind to it, then there’s no limit to your earning potential.
