Hello Osaka, what a welcome! | Japan Travel Diary

When I first arrived in Osaka after a very long (20+hrs flight and stop-over) from Australia I wasn’t tired at all. I was super excited to finally be in Japan for the first time! I knew Japan Wireless was waiting for me back at my place, so I only had to make it to the place without struggles or internet. It was way later than I calculated before due to the long queues (3hours) at the rail station to get my preordered pass. So I had to follow a different travel schedule as the metro I was supposed to take didn’t even go anymore. It was late at night, and I realized when I was on the train that check-in time had ended. Stressed, because arriving in the middle of the night in a new place is never ideal, I hurried as much as I could. Everything went super smooth, the train system in Japan is genius (more…)

  • Why Vegas should be your next destination

Why Vegas should be your next destination

There are a huge number of destinations in the US which have many different attractions going for them, but there are very few places which can do anything to match Las Vegas. The fact is, of all the many cities and other locations in this huge country, there is nowhere that offers such a wide and diverse array of experiences as Las Vegas. If you have never been before, then you probably have a relatively fixed image of this city in your head – and, chances are, it is not entirely accurate. Although it is known for a few choice things, the fact is that Vegas has plenty to offer besides, and looking into some of these is bound to encourage you to consider it for your next destination. If your next trip is around the US, here’s why you might want to consider stopping over in Las Vegas at least once. (more…)

Scary travel movies inspired by true events PART III

    Home » Travel » Page 6

When we think about scary travel movies, Eli Roth’s incredibly bloody horror movie Hostel is probably the first thing that pops into your head. But there are many more travel movies that are scarier simply because they are based on real stories. These aren’t the kind of stories about people getting slaughtered, these are the kind of stories that freak you out because you know someone lived it and has survived to tell the story. They’re about people surviving terrible accidents or situations. They’re freaked out by mother nature instead of zombies or murderers. Must watch for travelers, because who knows, you might pick up some survival skills! Somehow, after I watched the Shallows recently, I’m SO into this kind of thrillers, so I decided to collect a few recent ones I saw inspired by true events. And yes, I must admit, they do fuel my wanderlust, often they start in the most beautiful places like Mexico, Hawaii or Australia. Enjoy!

Are you ready for a few confessions of situations I avoided paying a lot of money for things? Sure, I’m all in for splurging every now. and then, but as a long term traveler you have to pick your favorites, you can’t do it every trip (unless you’re a millionaire, but I’m not). We all know we should keep a travel emergency fund but sometimes unexpected expenses can arise that prompt you to spend more than you originally planned. Don’t miss out on fun experiences by avoiding these costly travel mistakes.

Holiday gift guide: the perfect gifts to make every type of traveler happy

We all have the adventurous traveler in the family or as a friend, and in my case, it’s often me. Sure, you can buy awesome travel-related gifts to them, but most of the time, they want to travel light. So what should you buy? Everyone with a serious case of wanderlust can’t think about anything else, so do get them a travel related gift!

If they just moved, you can get something cute with a map design for their house. Or if they have a luxurious holiday coming up, get that towel harness (this one is awesome!) because they probably have space for it in their suitcase. But if you’re looking for a gift for a long-term traveler, give them something they can use on the road and that doesn’t take up space in their backpack. For every traveler there is something, and I have made a selection of my favorite items just for you.   (more…)
