    Income report December

So, this is new! I started income reports when I first started this blog, but then somewhere along the line I quit. Life got too hectic. And it still is. Life is messy, especially when you travel fulltime most of the time.

But that’s the exact reason why I need to publish income reports again. To keep track of things, to reflect and to set proper (public) goals.

When I first started out with taking my blog serious and aiming for five-figure months, I gained a LOT from reading all these income reports. I’m pretty sure this will be one of the most valuable blog posts I’ve ever written for new bloggers, so please read along!

What are some of the blog expenses and how do bloggers diversify their blogging income?

So here we are, here is my income report from December 2017.

So a couple of years ago I was still freelancing. Right now I’m accepting new freelance writing/photography jobs or blog coaching clients when they come up and I’m in the mood (or have time), but I try to focus on building a business without clients.

I have been blogging for over 12+ years and I can’t describe how happy I am I do this fulltime now! Best decision I ever made. It took me years, A LOT of time and effort to get where I am today, but hopefully, I can give you some shortcuts, as I’m already living the fulltime blogging lifestyle.

But to be upfront, I’m foremost an online entrepreneur, and after that a blogger. Building online businesses is my passion, blogging is my ‘hobby gone wrong’ and helping other bloggers is what I do to combine these two passions.

I may use advanced marketing strategies and programs to build my businesses, as I have a marketing degree and you may not need all the programs I use, but I’m sure they will help you. That’s why I decided to combine my business expenses + blog expenses in this report.

My biggest takeaways from 12 years blogging and earning five figures:

    Start a blog today

Most of what I’ve accomplished today comes from blogging. A blog is easy to monetize in a very passive way, so you can easily make some passive income with affiliate marketing or blog sponsors once everything is set up. Then start promoting your blog with PR & Free Publicity to gain followers.

Did you know that only 11% of all bloggers earn more than $30.000? So you better make sure you’re one of the top 11% bloggers! To be honest, it’s not that difficult, but you have to realize it’s not just blogging.

See, this blogger makes $50,000 (!) every month in a very passive way. Having multiple income streams is a start. I have collected over 50+ ways bloggers and online entrepreneurs can make money and many of the ways I have used to be able to travel the past three years.

If you don’t have a blog yet, start one today. You know why? Don’t do it for the money. Do it to share your passion(s) and who knows what comes from it. The way we blog will change all the time, but having a large ‘resume’ or creative portfolio online is worth a lot! And let me tell you: working with your favorite brands is a reward and awesome on itself!

Here’s the easiest tutorial on how to start your own blog. The easiest way to monetize your blog if you already have a blog is starting with affiliate marketing.

    Already got a blog?

If you already have a blog or if you’re not interested in blogging, I suggest you create an online course for free with Teachable. The difference with other ideas to make a living online is that with a blog or an online course you can make (quick-ish) five figures without working harder or more, while if you’re doing survey’s for example, it will take forever and it will be a lot more work that’s less fun. You do the work once and sell your ‘work’ over and over again.

    Create your online course now

Teaching people things you love and know about is so much fun! I absolutely love all my course students! I wish I’d started sooner with exploring my options to hosting an online course because I walked around with the idea for waaaay too long.

I didn’t know about Teachable and Udemy yet, so I just didn’t know how to technically create it. Now, you’ve got me. So create your own school on Teachable (or Udemy) for free now!

Get started with email marketing if you don’t want to create things (but sell!)

If you’re not a type that creates a lot, I suggest you get into email marketing, everyone can write emails right? Email marketing is a great way to stay in contact with people and building a following (who knows what you come up with later in life!) without creating something now. You can easily monetize your email marketing if you’ve got the right tools. I recommend Convertkit or AWeber to start with your newsletter and check out this post on earning recurring monthly income without a blog.

But even if you don’t want to get started on monetizing your own side hustle, business or blog, there are more ways to earn money online, so read further…

    Monthly Income Report December 2017:

    Reflection:

    • As you can see, sponsors were most profitable for me in December, something I already participated on way before, because December’s the month everyone buys and brands wanna get out there more. I used Clickfunnels and Deadline Funnel to boost sales for my courses and affiliate programs, and it really worked well. I didn’t use any paid ads to gain attention to my channels this month.
    • I started using Shopify to create my own online store. The store is now online and still doing well!
    • I followed this Instagram course and really liked it, she has over 1.4 million (!) followers and breaks down everything you need to know about becoming a super successful Instagram influencer. It’s really affordable, and I can recommend it to everyone who wants to learn more about Instagram. Instagram is my main focus at the moment, because I own a couple very successful and profitable accounts.

    Monthly Expenses December 2017:

*as you can see it may look like I use multiple tools for the same things but this is because I either run multiple accounts/or it’s for my second business.

Blog goals for the first quarter of the year (2018)

    • Of course, it’s easiest to start with a money/stat goal first. Why are these the easiest to come up with? haha. I would like to earn at least $100.000 in the first quarter. ???? working on it. I probably need to take on a couple of freelance jobs to earn that, because I’m expecting my sponsor + affiliate income to go down a little bit. (You can hire me here)
    • Grow my blog views to 750.000 ???? working on it but not obsessing over it. I practice the LOA and as many of you know, you need to let go first in order before it to happen…
    • Accept more blog coaching clients, press trips and interview requests to grow bigger and ‘leave my bubble’ more. ???? working on it, there will be a couple of cool interviews coming up! And I’ve added back the press page to the menu!
    • Feel good about working less. I like to work 50+ hours, but I also know daymn good, that my financial success does not require hard work (I actually got that from one of my Law of Attraction cards). I’m working towards taking weekends and evenings off without stressing about money/work. ???? Yeaah I feel really relaxed about my schedule now!

Check out my posts of weekly goals here

    Income report December 2017

    Monthly goals January 2018:

    • Focus on interviews + promotion. I will send out some press releases during the month and work on my press / promotional schedule more. You can still join this free publicity & PR crash course to learn how to set up your own press strategy within 60 minutes.
    • Grow my Facebook page. I recently got the page from my previous blog changed into one for this blog. I worked really hard building it, but then I completely neglected it for over a year. Such a waste! But traveling it wasn’t easy keeping up with everything. But these were my followers… my 15k nono’s. The band was broken, no more noni and the nonos… But now I’m back on Facebook! I purchased Facebook Strategies Worth Sharing to work on my Facebook strategies.
    • Get all my posts via ‘SEO YOAST’ on green. I’m taking a course right now to update my SEO knowledge, as things are constantly changing and I don’t take SEO that serious that I read about it every day. ???? I continue to work on this goal during January.
    • Join more Tribes on Tailwind.
    • Update old blog posts (read my article + free downloadable checklist here)
    • Focus on promoting my recurring affiliate programs more. I wrote a new blog post about them here. How awesome?

Actionable steps you can take today to build your five-figure online business

The one things I love about blogging and creating online courses is that the income difference doesn’t come from how much you create. It’s all about how much you promote. It’s about 80% promoting and 20% creating. I used to work in PR and Communications so I know all about free publicity (heck, you can too if you enroll in my course!) and use a combination of (very awkward) press features + Pinterest to earn more every month.

I use a combination of Tailwind and Boardbooster to skyrocket my Pinterest activity and have automated my PR strategy by using this tool. (read the full tutorial here).

I used to struggle for years before I found a good ‘flow’ in earning money online. I had to change the way I look at money and that took a lot of mindset changes and hard work. This course has helped me a lot.

Also, I realized early on that I needed multiple income streams so I got to work. I’m happy to tell you more about it, so head over to my free video training!

    Weekly goals + photo diary | #2

    Hey there!

It’s me, Mario! Today I’m introducing something new: a weekly post with my goals, photos, and vlogs from the past week to reflect, look back and be a little more personal on the blog.

When I first started this blog I wanted to get super personal, but along the way, with a busy work life I kinda neglected this aspect, and I think it’s time to bring it back!

I’d like to recap my Instagram + Snapchat Stories here, as they disappear after a while and I put a lot of effort in it (no shame). It comes very naturally to me to create them, but it doesn’t really come naturally to me to share everything I do. So maybe I can work on this by publishing them here as well.

Follow me on Instagram + Snapchat!

With a monthly income report, a look at my life and accountability! I’m a goal digger and write my goals down every. single. day. multiple. times.

Don’t ask me why, but it feels good to stay focused. Without goals, I’m lost, and without to do lists, I’m drowning.

Without goals, I’m lost, and without to do lists, I’m drowning.

I decided to share my weekly goals + to do lists with you to give you a behind the scenes look. This helped me a lot when I was starting out, so hopefully, you like it too!

    New to this blog?

I’m Noni May and I work as a blogger, online business owner, and writer/photographer. I’m committed to helping bloggers, small biz owners, solopreneurs, entrepreneurs & professionals create a business + life they’re happy about through awesome automations, content marketing, PR/free publicity and the right tools for an awesome digital nomad lifestyle and kick-ass photography!

I help bloggers and entrepreneurs via courses, business and blog coaching and services. I have two free courses and I provide a ton of free stuff here on the blog!

Besides business, blogging, social media, marketing/PR and money talk, I also blog about all things travel! I travel as often as possible, I’d call myself a digital nomad. Some of the things I also write about are travel guides, travel hacks and about the digital nomad lifestyle.

I have previously worked with brands like Disney, Uber, Universal, L’Oreal, Bacardi, Levi’s, Lipton Ice Tea, National Bank of Australia, Melbourne Racing Club, Ecosia, Australian Open, Mailchimp, TEDx, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Kinfolk Magazine and more.

    Recap last week:

Last week I took it offline and mainly worked on projects offline. I had a couple of work meetings and events, and I decided to shoot a lot, as I will be traveling a lot more the upcoming weeks.

I worked with L’Oreal on a campaign, which was really fun! I’ve also locked in a couple of awesome brand collaborations, more about it soon.

    Popular posts published:

Here are the to do’s for this week (weekly Goals):

    • Prepare my upcoming trips and plan everything regarding 2018.
    • Get ready for Black Friday. Both on the blog and for my e-commerce shop.
    • Work on my content strategy for the rest of 2017. I’d like to write and schedule all the content for 2017, so I can focus on my courses the rest of the year. I also have a couple of awesome collaborations lined up, so I can’t wait to have a little bit more freedom without daily writing (which I absolutely love!).

Check out the ultimate side hustle business kit resources if you’re building something too.

    • I have a couple of cool Instagram collaborations coming, so I need to shoot the content.
    • Shut down the hosting accounts I don’t use. I’ve recently purchased another Bluehost hosting account, but I don’t really need it now. I also have a Squarespace site that I need to downgrade. ????
    • I have created 18 before 2018, and I need to get started on those 18 tasks / to do’s.
    • Get started with ClickFunnels. I recently got started with ClickFunnels and I can’t wait to set up my funnels!
    • Work on my Shopify store. It’s live already, I just haven’t launched it officially yet.
    • I wanted to try some Fiverr gigs, like buying a bundle of 20 Pinterest visuals with text that I deliver for just $5. Usually, I created them myself, but I want to experiment more with different designs. I’ve quite an advanced Pinterest strategy already by using Tailwind, but I’d like to try this – even if it’s off brand.
    • Inbox zero. I’m terrible at email, I often don’t check my email for days. Hopefully, I can get through it this week to start next week with a clean sleeve.
    • I’m hosting a Q&A soon, you can still send in questions (via Twitter!)
    • Write a press release. Learn more about my free publicity strategy that gets me in the press for free here.

And here are some weekly tasks I always schedule in my planning:

    • Schedule Instagram posts + stories (as far as that’s possible!) with Planoly and Later.
    • Schedule my Pinterest pins + campaigns with Tailwind + add new blog posts to Tailwind Tribes (click here to read more about the tribes and how to use them).
    • Keep track of my working hours + income. I use TopTracker to track my hours now that Timely only has a paid version.
    • Send out my weekly newsletter. I use Convertkit for my blog newsletter as Convertkit is specially made for bloggers. I use Infusionsoft and Aweber for my business + press newsletters (different lists) because they demand more complex strategies. I did set up an easily automated PR strategy with Convertkit for new bloggers though – read more about it here.
    • Update / create new courses. I have a couple of online courses that DO demand constant updates + creation. It’s not completely passive as many people think, but it can be when you need a week or so off. I use this platform to publish my online courses for free.
    • Backup my photos / WordPress / iPhone / Computers etc. With this in mind, I’d literally die if I would use everything! I use OneDrive to backup automatically. I can give you a 0.5 GB bonus for free if you sign-up via this link.

    Personal goal list:

    • Travel to Ireland.
    • Go to the gym 6 times (and/or walk at least 10k steps a day, preferably more). In Oz, I’d walk 20k a day, but of course, I need more time to take 20.000 steps, so I’m ok with 10.000. Since doing so I feel so much healthier, so I can definitely recommend it to everyone. On a busy day filled with appointments and meetings I easily hit 10.000, but on a focused and productive day behind the computer, I only reach (iek!) about 500 steps. So I made getting my steps in a priority.

    Used tools:

My week in images (follow me here to see them live + all video vlogs):

I did a fun tea tasting with Pure Leaf, which just launched! It was really nice, there was a food photography workshop and we had the opportunity to create our own tea blend. Here are some photos:

Here’s the easiest tutorial on how to start your own blog. The easiest way to monetize your blog if you already have a blog is starting with affiliate marketing. Also read the Ultimate Guide To Blogging.

Monthly Income October 2017:

    Reflection:

    • As you can see, courses were most profitable for me in October. I launched Blogging Wave and Content Empire and couldn’t be happier with the outcome, so many inspiring bloggers that can’t wait to grow their blogs! <3 I used Clickfunnels and Deadline Funnel to boost sales for the first time together, and it really worked well. I also used Facebook ads for the first time (for a blog launch) and I still think it’s not for me, as it’s still quite expensive per lead, but compared to other ways of advertising, it’s affordable. I won’t use it the rest of the year though.
    • I started using Shopify to create my own online store. The store is now online and doing well, considering that I haven’t promoted it yet. ]
    • I followed this Instagram course and really liked it, she has over 1.4 million (!) followers and breaks down everything you need to know about becoming a super successful Instagram influencer. It’s really affordable, and I can recommend it to everyone who wants to learn more about Instagram.

    • Roundup my blog + business strategies for 2018 and write + plan content 2 months ahead so I have more freedom during the week. ????Almost done, I will probably finish this goal in the second week of November.

    Monthly goals November 2017:

    • Get all my posts via ‘SEO YOAST’ on green. I’m taking a course right now to update my SEO knowledge, as things are constantly changing and I don’t take SEO that serious that I read about it every day. ???? I continue to work on this goal during November.

With a monthly income report, a look inside my life and accountability!

I have previously worked with brands like Disney, Uber, Universal, Bacardi, Levi’s, Lipton Ice Tea, National Bank of Australia, Melbourne Racing Club, Ecosia, Australian Open, Mailchimp, TEDx, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Kinfolk Magazine and more.

    Recap last week:

Last week I worked 72 hours exact on my businesses. It’s the first week since I’ve been back from fulltime traveling (3 weeks now) that I have tracked my hours, so it was a biggie. I didn’t realize I worked this much because I worked 7 days but I still had a lot of time to work out, meet friends and Netflix. How awesome! I guess it’s all about priorities and ambition. The first weeks after coming back I had such a hard time just sitting for hours and hours, as all I did traveling was exploring and hiking. But I’m starting to get into the work hard mode again.

It feels so good to match my working hours to my ambition, as fulltime traveling is an awesome way to live, but it’s hard not be able to work as much as you want without a proper iMac or wifi (hi Australia – I’m talking about you!).

I also realized that my income will massively grow if I work more than 10 hours a week, which is a great motivator. It sounds obvious, but when you can make a living off just working a couple of hours, it’s really easy to just chill. But now I’d like to go big.

Here are the to do’s for this week (weekly Goals):

    • Publish the 3-part video training that I’ve recorded to show you all how to make a living as a blogger with <10k followers. It’s not too late to sign-up and join the training <10k followers, >$10k income.
    • Publish my first income report of 2017 (yes really!). I decided to pick up the income reports again, as it’s a great way for bloggers and online entrepreneurs to learn how others earn their income online. Click here to read my income reports.
    • Do my admin + taxes from quarter 3. Yaay 😐 (I use Freshbooks)
    • Get started with Linx, a great solution to add multiple links to your Instagram bio! Check it out here, it’s completely free!
    • I’m launching two new courses this month, and although the content is all set, I still have a ton of things to do from sales + cart pages, visuals, funnels, email marketing and more. I’ll talk about this more when I can – stay updated by signing up for my newsletter.

Check out the ultimate side hustle business kit resources if you’re building something too.

    • I have a couple of cool Instagram collaborations coming, so I need to shoot the content.
    • I want to update a couple of old blog posts that didn’t meet their potential or that are outdated. Last week I wrote a blog post about this and the best tips on how to update your old blog posts, including the checklist I personally use to increase my traffic and income by doing so!
    • Shut down the hosting accounts I don’t use. I’ve recently purchased another Bluehost hosting account, but I don’t really need it now. I also have a Squarespace site that I need to downgrade. ????
    • Get started with ClickFunnels. I recently got started with ClickFunnels and I can’t wait to set up my funnels!
    • Work on my Shopify store. I’ve set everything up, but I still need to decide on a great selection of products to sell.
    • I wanted to try some Fiverr gigs, like buying a bundle of 20 Pinterest visuals with text that I deliver for just $5. Usually, I created them myself, but I want to experiment more with different designs. I’ve quite an advanced Pinterest strategy already by using a combination of Tailwind and Boardbooster, but I’d like to try this – even if it’s off brand.

    • Schedule my Pinterest pins + campaigns with Boardbooster and Tailwind + add new blog posts to Tailwind Tribes (click here to read more about the tribes and how to use them).

    • Work at least 50 hours. Just because I get so much more done when I’m focused and making a lot of hours. Working is what I love to do, so this won’t be a problem. I mean, I get to take photos, write and connect with like-minded people. How awesome?
    • Go to the gym 6 times (and/or walk at least 10k steps a day, preferably more). In Oz, I’d walk 20k a day, but of course, I need more time to take 20.000 steps, so I’m ok with 10.000. Since doing so I feel so much healthier, so I can definitely recommend it to everyone. On a busy day filled with appointments and meetings I easily hit 10.000, but on a focused and productive day behind the computer, I only reach (iek!) about 500 steps. So I made getting my steps in a priority.
    • Last week I received my Law of Attraction cards and I already love them. The design is beautiful and they definitely lift my spirits! I draw a card each morning and try to focus on that during the day. They help me focus on the positive. I always purchase my books from this site because they ship for free (worldwide delivery!) and ALWAYS have the cheapest deals and every book I need – I don’t get how it’s possible, but it saves me so much $$!

  • Why I want to stop traveling full-time

Why I want to stop traveling full-time

Never allow waiting to become a habit. Live your dreams and take risks. Life is happening now.

This week I stopped waiting for things. From articles or photos that need permission to publish, people you make plans with but they keep changing the date to my own to do list. I do it all. Now. Or keep going instead of wait. That feels much better and more in the moment!

    I want to stop traveling

I now realize how important it is to have a backup emergency (travel) fund. Go make your dreams come true, but never take risks like traveling without an emergency fund. After a string of ‘bad experiences’, it’s more than ever time for me to book an expensive hotel (I don’t like motels). I don’t know how I could have paid for it without my emergency fund, and as a freelance blogger or entrepreneur, there are always ways to make more money.

I’ve created a 21-days action plan for you and your blog or business, to earn that extra $5000 in just under three weeks. It’s hard work, but it’s worth a try isn’t it? And the best thing about it – It’s not a hundred dollar course, you can start today for just $20!

The Day After Tomorrow: Presidential elections 2016 USA

For the past four years, I’ve been looking forward to tomorrow. I am not American, but I am a political junkie. For the longest time, I secretly wished it would be Clinton vs Bush again. That didn’t work out, it turned out something different… more spectacular but maybe not the election I hoped for. I learned from this election already. For months I didn’t think Trump would make it and I didn’t take his campaign seriously. But he did. Anything can happen. (more…)
